The Canon HF100 wins the day – Stunning outdoor performance and awesome low light performance. Just what i need to shoot the kids in and outdoors.
The competitors that i’ve personally tried failed miserably:
- Panasonic SD9: Pretty small and portable, but produced unusable indoor low light shots with very high levels of grain. Outdoor shots unreliable as autofocus doesn’t seem to lock on very well.
- Sony HDR-TG1: Lovely and small, but no manual controls and terrible low light performance.
So, at the price (even cheaper at Amazon), the Canon wins. There are better Sony’s (HDR-SR11), but not at the price nor the physical size.
