Yep, Apple killed it again with later versions of iTunes. All fixed now via a few options:
1. On the iPhone, visit http://help.benm.at/help.php & select mobile configs and then your country link and follow instructions.
2. type the following into the terminal to enable carrier testing: defaults write com.apple.iTunes carrier-testing -bool TRUE
Once done, you'll be able to upload it again

Hi.. I don't get it.. I've got iTunes beta 8.2 installed, I've downloaded the O2 ipcc file and plugged in my 3G iPhone running the 3.0 GM.

I alt-click Restore in iTunes which brings up a window to choose a custom restore file, and when I navigate to the Downloads folder where I've got the ipcc file stored (both in original ZIP format and expanded) its greyed out and I can't select it.

Any suggestions? Would REALLY appreciate any help! :)

Yes, Bluetooth & USB working in V3.0B4 on PC (running Vista) - plugged in iPhone (USB) with iTunes 8.2B running, picked it up straight away as tethered :-) Fantastic!

PS - In Betas 2 and 3, Bluetooth tethering worked, but it was horribly slow. I'll test USB and Bluetooth tethering over the next day or so and report on how fast it is in Beta 4

It worked in Beta 1 and then was disabled (or broken) in Betas 2 and 3.

Upgrade to Beta 4 and iTunes 8.2 prerelease and its working again :)

Couldn't get USB Tethering to work with PC (with 3.0B3) - part of the SDK is required to enable that - hopefully will be able to test the Bluetooth Tethering in a few days using a Bluetooth v2.0 Dongle (v1.1 Dongles doesn't meet the requirements)

Cheers

You can install iPhone 3.0 firmware without SDK installed, but you do need to get the unique id of the phone and enter it as a development device on Apple's developer site. I'm not aware of another way to get this id other than by using the SDK, but there may be a way.

With regard to getting tethering working, that part doesn't need SDK either - once you have iPhone 3.0 installed, the steps i posted are all you need to enable tethering. Plus, it works great.

Cheers :)

Does this work without the SDK? Have heard that it won't unless SDK is installed

Thanks!
